Biking the Rails to Trails Route in Nova Scotia

During a road trip through the Eastern Shores of Nova Scotia, part of my adventure included e-biking the popular Rails to Trails Route
This winding network of trails in Nova Scotia lets you experience the region from a unique perspective that you simply can’t get from the road.

I connected with Tom, owner of Scotia Cycle, who set me up with an excellent e-bike, helmet, map, and I proceeded to spend an afternoon exploring the area.
Along the way, I stopped in at the Bike and Bean cafe, which is on the route, for a quick lunch. It’s a popular spot for cyclists to refuel as they traverse the trails.

Part of the Trans Canada Trail system, this is a multi-use trail system connecting the communities of Beechville, Lakeside Timberlea, Hubely and Lewis Lake.

Tom mentioned that there’s a surging popularity in e-bikes at increases accessibility to those who may not be able to go as far on a traditional bicycle. Having that battery assist really comes in handy during uphill sections and at the tail end of your ride when you might be lower on energy levels.

Biking the Rails to Trails Route in Nova Scotia is a beautiful and unique way to experience St. Margaret's Bay and surrounding areas and if you can, you should certainly do it.
