Experiencing Lobster Crawl in Nova Scotia's South Shore

Published February 8th, 2024

Nova Scotia is determined to show that they're still a hot destination, even in cool weather. And after spending a week there in winter, I can certainly attest to that through their ever-growing and delicious Lobster Crawl Festival.

Launched in 2018, their ever-growing Lobster Crawl in the splendid South Shore celebrates all things lobster.

I was fortunate to spend a week experiencing this fantastic festival that lasts the entire month of February; I even got to be a judge in the famed Lobster Roll-Off Competition!

There’s such a strong sense of community here where the support of businesses is strong and the feeling of being welcomed wherever you go is always high. I’d ben to Nova Scotia a few times prior and this was my first experience in the South Shore region and it certainly won’t be my last.

Plus, the South Shore in Nova Scotia is home to the lobster capital of Canada in Barrington.
This community initiative is part of a bigger goal to showcase Nova Scotia as a year round destination and so far, I’d say it’s certainly working.

Join me as I visit and eat my way through several communities to both enjoy all things lobster and get a deeper understanding and appreciation for this special part of the world.
