I Slept At The Hôtel de Glace in Quebec!

Published February 23rd, 2025

Quebec’s Hôtel de Glace is the only ice hotel in North America and I can say that I, very comfortably, slept there and loved the entire experience.

I know it can seem daunting at first glance but the team at Village Valcartier, where the Ice Hotel is located, will ensure you’re fully covered. In great detail, they’ll prepare you for the night and answer all your questions. Highlights of how to sleep at the Hotel de Glace include soaking in the on-site hot tub and or sauna to raise your body temperature, followed by a hot shower in your Valcartier hotel room, which is included in your stay.
The most important part about sleeping in the Ice Hotel is being thoroughly dry before sliding into your sleeping bag because even with a touch of moisture, you’ll get cold and then it’s game over.
The sleeping bags are rated at -39 Celsius and speaking from experience, the only time I was cold was the 30 seconds it took me to remove my coat and boots and get into the sleeping bag.

Located only 20 minutes outside of Quebec City, this year, they've created the largest version to date at a staggering 53,000 square feet and used over 30,000 tonnes of snow.
