Lava To Lake Kayaking - A Parks Canada Guided Experience in Terrace Bay, Ontario
Published August 25th, 2024
Northern Ontario is home to some of Canada’s most beautiful scenery and is the home of a new Parks Canada experience called "Lava To Lake" kayaking program.
Located at Terrace Bay, approximately 2.5 hours east of Thunder Bay, this on-water attraction goes through the history of the area, and includes the geological evolution and its importance to how it has shaped the current landscape.
Liam Giffin, Visitor Experience Product Development Officer, Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area, joins us and shares key information and insights to this valuable program.
As you paddle on Lake Superior and are led by knowledgeable and experience guides, you’ll be in high-quality kayaks with top-notch safety gear. The route itself isn’t too long and you’re sheltered for most of it. Keep in mind that Lake Superior’s winds can change quickly and the team is aware of that. They keep a constant eye on the weather patterns to ensure your experience with them is safe and comfortable.
It's an excellent experience that should be on your must-do list in Ontario.
