Clam Digging in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Published September 21st, 2024

Halifax, Nova Scotia's Eastern Shore is filled with wonderful things to see and do and it’s certainly a hidden gem that should be explored.
An under the radar activity that I loved doing was an authentic clam digging experience with 4th generation professional clam digger, Darcy Baker. He’s been leading these tours for a few years and is truly a wonderful human. He’s patient, knowledgable and easy to get along with.
Under his experienced and watchful eye, I dug up a lot more clams than I thought and it’s a relatively low-impact activity.

This experience is put on through Memory Lane Heritage Village in the town of Lake Charlotte and is truly a remarkable, must-do adventure.
Oh! And the best part is that after you do your clam digging, you get to enjoy a lunch at Memory Lane, with the main dish being the fresh clams you dug yourself that morning!

Join Darcy and me as I learn how to clam dig, the importance of proper footwear, a conversation with him on how to clam dig and my first tasting of steamed clams.
